Dear members and friends of our Slovak community,
As the most sacred time of the liturgical year approaches, we warmly invite you to join us at the Slovak Mission to celebrate the beauty and depth of the Easter season. These holy days are an opportunity to come together in prayer, reflection, and shared traditions that connect us to our Slovak roots and our faith.
The Easter Triduum and the days leading up to it offer a rich spiritual program for individuals and families alike.
We begin with Palm Sunday (March 29, 2026), commemorating the Lord’s entrance into Jerusalem. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, with an opportunity for Confession beforehand. In the afternoon, we invite you to participate in the Stations of the Cross in St. John, Indiana.
During Holy Week, additional opportunities for Confession will be available on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. On Wednesday, we will hold a special communal Easter Confession, with additional priests available to serve our community and help us prepare our hearts for the Resurrection.
The Sacred Triduum begins with Holy Thursday (April 2), when we celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 PM, followed by adoration in the Garden of Gethsemane. This is a beautiful moment to reflect on Christ’s love and sacrifice.
On Good Friday (April 3), we gather for the solemn Liturgy of the Passion at 7 PM. Earlier in the day, the Stations of the Cross will be prayed at 3 PM. The church will remain open for adoration at the Holy Sepulchre until 10 PM, offering a quiet space for personal prayer.
Holy Saturday (April 4) is a day of silence and waiting. The church will be open for all-day adoration beginning at 8 AM, and the traditional blessing of Easter foods will take place at 1 PM. In the evening, we celebrate the Easter Vigil at 7:30 PM, the most solemn and beautiful liturgy of the year.
Finally, we joyfully celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord on Easter Sunday (April 5) with Holy Mass at 11 AM, followed by Easter Monday (April 6) Mass at 11 AM.
These holy days are not only a time of deep spiritual renewal but also a moment to reconnect with our Slovak traditions—through prayer, community, and cherished customs passed down through generations.
We encourage all families, children, and members of our community to take part in this sacred time. Let us come together to celebrate the victory of life over death, light over darkness, and hope over fear.
We look forward to celebrating Easter with you at the Slovak Mission.
Wishing you a blessed and joyful Easter!
